Golden Kiwis

My mom bought this one time years ago just because of "hey we've never tried this before" and at the time they were sold with these spoon/knifes to each them with. We have a few of them, have yet to see them again since we got them. You can do the same thing as it with just a knife and a spoon, i just get to use a fun version.

You can eat them however you want to, cut them up, add them to things, or whatever it is you'd use a golden kiwi for(or possibly in place of normal kiwi, but flavor is a little different). I just want to show the only way i'll eat a golden kiwi.

Start by cutting off just one end.

You can scoot out what you can from the part you cut off if you want, but the opening needs to be large enough for the spoon. Thinking about it, you could probably just cut it in half and just each both halves too.

Stick the spoon in....

Scoop....And Enjoy :)

Here's mine being empty.

Now for those of you who have never ate, or possible never heard of golden kiwis, you might be wondering about the taste. Had to eat another one just before writing this to get a fresh taste of it to be able to write about it. Ate it the same way as above, but this time i used one of my daughter's little spoons...should of used my spook/knife lol.

Alright, for the taste, I'd say it's got a sweeter taste. I can't exactly compare the taste to a normal kiwi because it's been a long time since i had one. The texture is a little softer though, you can't do this eating method with a normal kiwi, i tried before, it was hard. I do have a habit of hardly chewing kiwi's when i eat them because their seeds burn if you bite them, so because of that, not sure if i've bitten a golden kiwi's seeds to see if they also burn.

I do find that these are pretty good for when you want a small fruit snack but still want to feel like you are eating something by using utensils.

Pluot and Apple Pear

Left one is the Pluot and the right is the Apple Pear.

Pluot:
Here's a link for if you want to read better about these http://www.wisegeek.org/what-are-pluots.htm

My mom was getting some plums and i saw these things. The sticker said it was a Pluot, never heard of it. Thought i'd try it just to try some new things. After looking it up, i find out it's a cross between a plum and an apricot. They have a nice sweet flavor. I found them a little fun to eat because the insides were red.

Apple Pear:
Here's some more info about these http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/nutritional-properties-apple-pears-1857.html

Never tried them before so i just kind of figured they were pears that were shaped like apples, that's pretty much what they are, but just a little more than that, either way i thought they were cute. They have a nice crisp bite to them but still fibery like pears. So a crunch like an apple but still pretty textured like a pear. I'm going to be buying more of these.

If you like plums, i'd suggest trying a Pluot. If you like pears, i'd suggest at least trying the Apple Pear to see if you like it. It's really refreshing to eat.

I just want to eat mass amounts of these....I'm glad i tried them. I think i'll try seeing if i can manage to find some recipes that use either fruit in them to use them more than just eating straight.

Red Bananas

Been having a want to try things i've never had before. Some fruits still make me a bit worried to try but at some point i will try them!

This one is red bananas. I'm sure i've seen them many times, just never tried them until now. In the wanting to try new things part, a little disappointing, they taste like just bananas lol. It's not a surprise, but i was hoping for a new flavor.

Since the taste was just a banana, it made me wonder what was so different about them, aside from the color. Just did a basic google search for these and found out that they are suppose to taste pretty much just like the yellow bananas but what makes them different is that they have more vitamin C in them. They are also just alittle smaller.

I will be either just eating them normally or maybe wait until they soften alittle and make something i've made before that involves bananas. Like the banana and egg pancakes, or the banana and oats cookie things.

Here's how they look when peeled...and bitten lol.
