Fixing Toy's Hair

I always am just eh about wanting to get my daughter toys with hair because of the hair getting all tangled and a mess. Yeah you can just fight and fight with it to get it combed through, but then it usually just ends up some puffy mess. Recently had got my daughter some toy horses that the hairs weren't the best, picture above was probably the worst of them though.

I had seen before how to fix doll hair and i wanted to really try it, finally got around to getting some fabric softener to try it out. After getting started, realized that a brush is easier but would be better if i maybe had a wig brush, looks like it would have sturdier bristles. I also had to use my brush, so i think i might need a new brush for myself lol.

Starting with the horse in the above picture, my daughter calls her "Twilight" after Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony, she's named all her toy horses after the ponies...Need like 2 more of them let her have all 6 of them lol. I asked my daughter what she wanted me to do with the hair and she told me she wanted her hair to be straight like Twilight's hair. Which wasn't too hard to get it straighter(after a few days seems to be getting slightly wavier), just from using the spray and brushing it will take away at least some of the curls.

Here's how she looked afterwards. I get amazed at the difference! I didn't really care for the horse before because of the hair, but now i actually like this one. I did also clean up markings on the bodies of the horses since i bought them used so they weren't in the best condition. I didn't really like how long the tail was so i gave it a little trim. here's how it looked when i was done.

Here's another horse i did the hair for.

This horse is "applejack". This was the first of her horses i actually had done. The hair wasn't horrible, but did need some work. Here's my after.
Gave her some braids because the braids make me think "applejack".

This one is "Rainbow Dash" which i find hilarious as it's the horse with the least amount of color. The hair on this one was the easiest.
Didn't do anything special with this one's hair. i did put a small chunk over her face, but my daughter doesn't seem to like it that much because of my mom always telling her that she doesn't like when hair is in people's faces.

And then there's "Pinkie Pie"

This one was the one with the most work put into it. Pinkie Pie on My Little Pony has curly hair, so my daughter wanted her hair curly. Took me awhile to figure out the best way to make it curly. I didn't want it too wild, though wild would be fine because it's Pinkie Pie. I wish i just had little doll hair curlers. I did figure out something to do.
After brushing and rinsing the hair, i just twirled the hair with my finger and put it in these and used little rubber bands to hold them. Then let them sit over night or longer. They need to be completely dry before taking out to help it better hold the curls. Here's how it looked after i first took them out.

So it's curly, but just didn't look really right to me. My daughter did say she wanted "bouncy hair" but i wasn't about to leave it like this, so i took a comb and loosened the curls.
So there's Pinkie Pie. Because of making the hair curly, it is going to make it easier to knot and tangle again, but just keep up on the combing and it should be fine and not have to use the spray again and recurl it.

So those were her horses i did with the spray, i also tried it on her Rainbow Dash from build a bear. That one was actually my first one i tried the mixture on. I hadn't realized before how tangled the hair had gotten before, it was like little dread locks.

There's how it looked before i started. Here's the close up of the tail and mane.
The tail was just getting to be a mix of colors and not as pretty.

Took awhile to get it all brushed through, but this is how it turned out when i was done. The ends were so poofy from the damage to them. I gave her a little trim and she turned out like this.

She looked cute, but i didn't cut off all the poofy parts after a few days, it had gotten pretty bad again. Just from simple playing too. My mom doesn't like that i gave her another hair cut, she's worried that i'll end up cutting off too much or something. The hair was all different lengths too, that bothered me. The top was so much shorter than the rest. After the second cut, she looks like this
Looks a little more like Rainbow Dash should look. But now with getting the ends cut and if we keep up on combing(and washing, she's a little dirty) then i shouldn't have to cut off anymore. Over all this looks better than the dread lock look she had going.

I still have a Twilight and Pinkie Pie from build a bear to do the hair of, i'm excited but also dreading Pinkie Pie, it's hair is worse than what this one was. But other than those, i will have to go through my daughter's toys to see if there's anymore toys to fix their hair. I'm wanting to go thrift stores and yard sales to look for dolls/toys with bad hair for me to fix up lol.

One of the many good things about being able to do this is that if you do plan on selling a toy with hair that is a tangled mess, give it a brush over and you can probably sell it for a little more than what you'd get if it was messy hair.

I'll write again after i do the other pony's hair and any other ones i find. I get amazed with seeing the difference so i want to share them :)

Bacon Flavored Ritz

Now I've been sick for a few days and had a stuffy nose when i tried these, but i had my mom try them to verify what i was thinking it tasted like.

I've tried a good bit of different bacon flavored things, i'll admit that i got a bit sucked into the fad of it. Been rather disappointing in a lot of the things, but i still want to try something when it says "bacon flavored". Some of the worse has been bacon soda and bacon jelly beans. Well my brother had sent me a picture to show me that these were a thing, said they were at target, and i had even saw in the target ad after that that they were there, i was pretty sure it said "exclusive" next to it though, so i was rather surprised to find these at walmart.

I was a bit worried to try them, but i went ahead and tried it because my daughter started saying she wanted "the round crackers" when i was giving her some square cheez-its. I went ahead and opened them and tried it since it was open. I wasn't sure if i was tasting completely well but it seemed to taste like when you have crackers and a slice of beef stick on it, so basically it tasted like meat and cracker. My mom said that it did taste like that and that these would be good with canned cheese, i don't like canned cheese so i'll just take her word on that lol.

If you like meat and cheese with crackers, then you might like these.

Colorful Carrots

Ignore the background lol.
I already knew that there was at least yellow carrots, my mom didn't know at all that there were other colored carrots. When we saw these, we decided to get them to try. I was excited over the purple one, though was interesting when i cut the end off.
I wanted to be really careful when peeling the carrots to not peel away all the purple.

Was still excited to try the different carrots. i tried each on their own, they did seem to vary in flavors but still had a carrot taste to it. I think it made for a nice colorful side dish, just wish we had gotten a few bundles instead.

Taco Bake Thing

This was mostly me experimenting with food. I liked the idea of this recipe, but i didn't have everything for it.

I really liked the sound of to where i decided to see if i could attempt anything close to it instead something i knew i could make. Pretty much just had some ground beef that needed to be used. I used condensed cheddar cheese soup instead of tomato sauce, figuring that it would just help make it cheesy. I didn't have crescent rolls but i had biscuits, so i flattened those the best i could for along the bottom. I did have the Doritos and cheese though.

Surprisingly, over all it tasted pretty alright. Crescent rolls might of been alittle better for it and a little more meat, but it was like nachos on a biscuits. I had to add like a lot of taco seasoning because either mine was just old and was losing flavor or it just wasn't as good as other ones we have had before. It had a taco flavor but i added some chili powder to it to give it the spice i felt it was missing.

I have no real amounts used for this, since i was experimenting, it was just thrown together.
my pan used all but one of the biscuits when they were flatted, and ripped into a few pieces on the last few to fill gaps.
Used most of one can of the cheddar cheese, probably could use the whole can, i just scooped a bunch out and ended up with a little left in it.
Not sure how much meat was used, it was just half of what was left from the pack my mom bought before. It was at least enough to get a layer in the whole dish.
Taco seasoning and chili powder were to taste.
Shredded cheese was a few handfuls.
Chips can really just be how ever much you want, i think i should of used less.
Was cooked for 20 minutes at 375? pretty sure it was that lol.

There's what my piece i had looked like.

My mom doesn't get to try this one but made comments that sound like she'd want me to make it again so i'll try and figure out better what i'm doing for it the next time.

I like just experimenting when cooking. Though a fair bit of the time when i do that, the food looks not that great but will taste nice lol.

Honey Banana Thing + Chocolate Bar Attempt

I had some ripe bananas i needed to do something with or else they just would of been thrown away. I asked in a facebook group i am in for recipes (link) for ideas of what to make with them. There was some good ideas, but i ended up just going with experimenting with my own version of the honey fried bananas.

I used coconut oil for the first cooking the bananas, ended up using too much so i thought i'd sorta try the chocolate bar thing i've seen before. But first still with the bananas, after i took the bananas out of the oil and got a good amount of the oil off of them, i put the bananas back into the pan. I added some honey, some brown sugar, and a little bit of cinnamon, i just eyeballed the amounts. Mixed them together while cooking a little longer. It doesn't look the best, looked kinda gross once in the bowl, but was really tasty and  it would be good for like pancakes or something as topping.

Now with all the oil that was left, i thought i'd try the chocolate bar thing i saw before, though doing it completely different and on my own because it already was different from having the oil used for the bananas.

It seems to be alright from the first look of it. Not sure if it's the cocoa powder i have or if all of the powders have a bitter bite to them. Anyways, i put it in the freezer to try and harden up and see what happens for it. It's sorta bar like, though because of the banana, i think, it's a little softer than i think it would be as it warms up. I wasn't really expecting much of this because it's just me playing around with stuff mostly. i will still be trying the chocolate bar recipe i have saved. This chocolate though does have a slight banana taste to it.
Here's how it looked out of the freezer.

No Pudge! Fudge Brownie Mix

I got this brownie mix because it sounded interesting. A brownie mix that only took adding yogurt. The Fat free part was interesting too. So well being me, it was new and interesting, so i wanted to try it. I got this at Natural Grocers, a healthy/organic type store.

After i bought the yogurt to use for this and got home, i realized i got a greek yogurt. Doesn't seem to make much difference after making it, but makes me a little interested to see a difference with using non-greek yogurt.

Now in the directions, it says that it will be thick while you mix it....I didn't think that it would be so thick.
There's the spoon not even leaning while in the bowl. My arm started to hurt so bad from trying to stir it, an electric mixer might be easier. Was alright with getting into the pan to cook in, but not as easy as normal brownie batter. Directions also said to use a metal pan, but i think i heard somewhere that you shouldn't cook things with yogurt in them in a metal pan because of chemical reaction or something that makes it taste different, so i used a glass one (also because that's our only 8x8 pan).

Made a little X design in it because my daughter wanted me to.
After cooking it, it looked like brownies. Then i tasted it, it tastes like a brownie. It's a moist brownie too. It doesn't really taste like it's a 'healthier' brownie. So you'll get a goodness of brownies just without it being as bad for you.

Here's some nutrition facts to show the difference

No pudge brownies made
Servings: 12
Calories: 119
Fats: 0g
Carbs: 29g
Fiber: 1g
Protein: 3.2g
(amounts might not be exact)

Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Brownie made (Where i got my info)
Servings: 16
Calories: 147
Fats: 4.1g
Carbs: 26g
Fiber: 1g
Protein: 1.4g
(Amounts might not be exact)

So the No pudge sounds better, slightly higher carbs though. The second one says it makes 16 servings, but both say that a serving size is the same about of mix, 32g, so i just assume that the second one makes more? Anyways, up to you to judge what you think about the nutrition facts, it does also matter of what the ingredients are of what makes something healthier. No Pudge has all natural ones. Also only about 8 ingredients in just the mix, the other has maybe at least 14? I got confused in trying to count because of how the stuff is listed. Which i guess it shows that you should be paying attention to what you are eating.

The stirring this is probably the hardest and annoying part of this product. But if you are wanting a healthier option for a boxed brownie, i say give this a try.

McDonald's Triple Cheeseburger

Doesn't really look the prettiest, but it's pretty good. I usually get the quarter pounder but sometimes a cheap burger sounds good. Was definitely more filling than just the single or double and was nicer than having to eat 3 singles that would of also included the buns. I don't get mcdonalds all the time, but just sometimes a "crap" burger sounds like the best thing in the world lol.
